Songjiang, once called Huating in ancient times, also known as Yunjian, Rongcheng, and Gushui, is a famous town south of the Yangtze River. In 751 of the Tang Dynasty, Son🍸gjiang was named Huating County. In 1277 during the Yuan Dynasty, ꦚit was named Huating Prefecture, which was changed to Songjiang Prefecture the next year. Then in 1805 in the Qing Dynasty, it was developed into Songjiang Prefecture with Huating, Shanghai, Qingpu, Lou, Fengxian, Jinshan, Nanhui, and Chuansha Counties subject to it. In 1912, when the prefecture was abolished, Huating and Lou were merged into Huating County of Jiangsu Province. In 1914, Huating County was changed to Songjiang County. After liberation, the area became Songjiang Special District. In March 1958, it was merged into Suzhou Special District, and in November, Songjiang became a county of Shanghai. Then in February 1998, the State Council approved Songjiang to be a district.

The district continued to make efforts in rural revitalization. The District Agriculture and Rural Affairs Commission was rated as the only National Advanced Collective in Grain Production in Shanghai, and the farmers’ satisfaction with rural revitalization had been leading in Shanghai for many years. The construction of family farms continued to deepen, and the grain yield per mu, the number of live pigs, and the green food certification rate ranked among the top in Shanghai. A special campaign of eliminating illegal non-agricultural greenhouses was launched to stick to the red line policy of arable land protection. Digital transformation was comprehensively promoted, and the G60 Digital Economy Innovation Industry Demonstration Zone of Songjiang New City was successfullyღ selected as one of the first batches of municipal demonstration zones. The evaluation of urban digital transformation in 2021 ranked third in Shanghai. In 2021, the total number of new and high-tech enterprises in the zone reached 1,041, ranking third in Shanghai. The total n🎃umber of high-tech enterprises in the district reached 2,306, with a year-on-year increase of 31.4%, ranking third in Shanghai. The net increase of high-tech enterprises has quadrupled in five years, reaching 551 in 2021. Eleven sci-tech enterprises were approved by the 2021 Shanghai Sci-tech Little Giant Project (including cultivated enterprises), ranking third in Shanghai. There were 156 small giant enterprises in the district (including cultivated enterprises). In 2020, R&D expenditure amounted to 7.516 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 10.2% and an investment intensity of 4.59%, 0.27% higher than that of 3.98% in 2019 and 0.42% higher than the average level of Shanghai. Among them, corporate R&D expenditure accounted for 88.6% of the total investment, and corporate R&D status significantly improved. 81 high-tech achievement transformation projects were identified, ranking second in Shanghai. 865 technica♛l contracts were registered, with a transaction value of 19.079 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 320.2%, ranking third in Shanghai.

The number of effective invention patents per 10,000 people reached 55.54, up by 8.57 over the previous year. Songjiang made efforts to build a national intellectual property pilot city, with 2 national intellectual property model enterprises, 12 national intellectual property advantage enterprises, 1 national intellectual property pilot park, 3 national intellectual property protection standardization (cultivation) markets, 77 municipal professional 🐻work model (pilot) enterprises, and 8 municipal intellectual p♔roperty model (pilot) parks. Songjiang District Central Hospital, Fangta Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Sijing Hospital successfully established Shanghai Regional Medical Center. In 2021, Songjiang tourism revenues reached 12.646 billion yuan, up by 19.2% over the previous year. The total number of tourists reached 16.5176 million, up by 47.3% over the previous year. By the end of 2021, there were 7 star-rated hotels in Songjiang, including 3 five-star hotels, 2 four-star hotels, and 2 three-star hotels. During the year, tourist hotels in Songjiang received 1.6206 million guests, the average room occupancy rate was 53.08%. InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is innovative design work. It took 12 years to finish the construction of the hotel. This novel hotel follows the natural environment and makes full use of the curvedꦅ surface of the quarry rock face to hang and build on it. The main body is composed of 2 layers above the surface and 15 layers 88 meters below the surface, which makes the world amazed. The hotel is located at the Tianma Hill quarry near Sheshan Hill, 32 kilometers away from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, also adjacent to Sheshan National Forest Park, Chenshan Botanical Garden, and other tourist attractions. Sheshan National Forest Park is the only natural mountainous forest touring site in Shanghai. The Park covers an area of 267 acres with 79.44% of the scenic spot covered by forests. There are 12 hills in the park🍃, stretching their way from the southwest to the northeast, like a string of jade pearls with a total length of 13km, offering Shanghai’s flat land a mountainous view. In June 1993, the former National Ministry of Forestry approved the establishment of Sheshan Naℱtional Forest Park. In 2001, it was honored as one of the first national 4A-level touring sites. The scenic spots that opened to the public are East Sheshan Hill Park, West Sheshan Hill Park, Tianmashan Hill Park, and Xiaokunshan Hill Park.

Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is in Sheshan National Tourist Resort (No.3888 Chenhua Highway). It is created through collaboration 🐠between the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the State Forestry Administration, which combines scientific research, popular science, and sightseeing purpose. This remarkable 207-hectare botanical garden is the largest one in East China. Chenshan Ancient Site in the garden was announced by Shanghai Municipal Government as a cultural relics protection unit of Shanghai in April 2014. The site was first found in early 2009, covering an area of about 16 hectares. It is preliminarily determined to be an ancient cultural sit𒉰e in the Shang and Zhou dynasties.
The botanical garden consists of four functional areas: the🎃 central exhibition area, the plant conservation area, the plant areas on five continents, and the peripheral buffer zone. The exhibition greenhouse covers an area of 12,608 square meters. It consists of Tropical Flower and Fruit Museum, Sand Botany Museum, and Exotic Botany Museum. It is the lar👍gest exhibition greenhouse group in Asia. Among them, Sand Botany Museum is the largest indoor sand botany exhibition hall in the world. Now Chenshan Botanical Garden is a national 4A-level scenic spot.

Established in 1978, Shanghai Square Pagoda Park covers an area of 182 mu. Its original site was the downtown of Huating during the Tang and Song Dynasties. There are 8 national, municipal, and district unmovable cultural relics in the park, including Xingshengjiao Temple Pagoda, which was announced as national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council in November 1996; Lanrui Hall, Screen Wall of Engraved Bricks, Chen Huacheng Memorial Temple, Temple of the Queen of Heaven and Wangxian Bridge were announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in April 2014, Stone Statues of Ming Dynasty, Front Hall of 🏅Zhang’s Residence were announced as Songjiang district relics protection unit in June 2013.
The entire landscape is centered on the Square Pagoda of Northern Song Dynasty, surrounded by the Wangxian Bridge of Southern Song Dynasty,꧂ Screen Wall of Engraved Bricks of Ming Dynasty, Lanrui Hall, stone carving garden, Temple of the Queen of Heaven, Chen Huacheng Memorial Hall, Helou Veranda, Qichang Corridor and so on. The park is rated as a national 4A-level scenic spot.

With an area of 76 mu, Shanghai Zuibaichi Park is one of the five ancient gardens in Shanghai. There are two immovable cultural relics in the park, including Zuibaichi, which was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in April 2014; Woodcarving Hall, which was announced as Songjiang County Cultural Relics Protection Unit in July 1985. The predecessor of the garden was Guyang Garden, the residence of Zhu Zhichun, a jinshi (a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations) in the Song Dynasty. The garden was also a place for Dong Qichang (a famouﷺs calligrapher and painter in Ming Dynasty) to drink and write poems. 370 years ago, during the period of Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty, it was a private villa of Gu Dashen, chief of the Ministry of Works, he rebuilt the garden and changed its name to “Zuibaichi” because he worshipped Bai Juyi (poet of the Tang dynasty). The garden has many pavilions, terraces, and open halls such as Letian Xuan (a small room or veranda with windows) of the Song Dynasty, Simian (four sides) Hall, Yi Fang (a boat-shaped building), Reading Hall of the Ming Dynasty, and Cottage above the Pool, Xuehai Hall, Baocheng Building, Woodcarving Hall of the Qing Dynasty. Art treasures such as stone carvings of Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy authentic works “Visit to the Red Cliff” of Yuan Dynasty and steles of “Portraits of Excellent Talents in Yunjian” of Qing Dynasty are collected in the park. There are countless contemporary calligraphers’ inscribed tablets and couplets hanging in the park. Now the park is rated as a national 4A-level scenic spot.

Guangfulin Site of Ancient Culture is in the north of Songjiang New City, it spans Longyuan Road to the east, Guangfulin Road to the south, Shenjing River to the west, and North Yinze Road to the north. Covering an area of about 850 mu, it is the most abundant and valuable among 29 cultural sites in Shanghai. There are three immovable cultural relics on the site, including Guangfulin Site of Ancient Culture, which was announced as national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council in May 2013; Chen Zilong Tomb, which was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in November ꦡ1987; Zhiye Bridge, which was announced as Songjiang district cultural relics protection point in January 2016.
The site takes the protection zone of the archaeological site as its core and presents its original form with farming ecological culture and authentic rural scenery. The profound culture is the core competitiveness of Guangfulin, which includes a cultural display area, a folk display area, a religious display area, an archeological site exhibition hall, and a porcelain kiln exhibition hall. Guangfulin echoes Songjiang Prefectural City, Songjiang City of Warehouse, Sijing Ancient Town, and other historical and cultural scenes, which has become the destination of the “Root-seekinღg Journey of Profound Culture” in Shanghai.

Guangfulin Country Park is built around the five core elements o🔯f “field, water, road, forest, and village”, and is based on the natural ecological landscape of farming. It is composed of farm picking, fruiting scenery, wetland fishing villages, and camping bases. The block is divided into 12 areas, such as a rape flower field, green field trail, forest oxygen bar, Laolaiqing rice field, and leisurely trail in the paddy. Shanghai Pujiang River Source Scenic Spot is the starting point of Shanghai’s mother river, Huangpu River, also known as the “Zero Kilometer of Huangpu River”. The Xietang River and Yuanxiejing Creek, which meander from Jiangsu and Zhejiang, converge here to form a delta-shaped treasure land and flow into Huangpu River through Hengliaojing Creek. At t🎶he confluence of the three rivers, the river is vast, the sailboats in the river competing for the current, the nets rising and falling by the river, the reeds on the bund swaying, the pink peaches and green willows setting each other off. These breeds the endless scenery of a water town in the south of the Yangtze River, from which the scenic spot got its name “Pujiang River Source”. The whole scenic spot is divided into two parts: the aboveground part is “Shu-Liu-Li-Yun Pagoda” and “Chunshen Hall”, while the underground part is “Water Culture Exhibition Hall”. In the scenic area, the architectural style of cantilever beam and bucket arch exude classical charm, while the glazed tiles of French windows unfold modern fashion pleasure. The garden, blessed with local trees such as ginkgo, sophora, and weeping willow, displays a charming style of the south of the Yangtze River and shows the epitome of ancient Chinese traditional culture. Shanghai Moon Lake Sculpture Park is in Sheshan National Tourist Resort. It is an artistic landscape park that integrates modern sculpture, architectural art, natural landscape, and high-end rest and entertainment. Composing of Xiaosheshan Hill, Moon Lake, and the hinterland surrounding Moon Lake, the park covers an area of 1,300 mu with 465 mu of Moon Lake as the center. Songjiang Museum is a local chronicles museum, where the historical relics in So🌳ngjiang are collected, researched, and exhibited. The 2-storey exhibition room covers an area of 1,200 square meters. The basic exhibition of “Treasures Buried in the Sand”, which is divided into 3 portions named “Dawn of Huangpu River”, “Glisten of the Historical River” and “Painting Arts”, is on the second floor. The exhibition scientifically shows the cultural relics, which are held in the museum and unearthed in Songjiang, and reflects the achievements during the different periods of social development combined with landscape restoration,🐽 lightbox, multimedia, and other auxiliary display methods. The first floor is a temporary exhibition hall, and various special exhibitions are held from time to time. Located on the east and west sides outside the exhibition hall, the Stele Gallery is composed of long corridors and tablet pavilions. The East Stele Gallery displays the historical materials and inscriptions of Songjiang Prefecture during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The West Stele Gallery displays the calligraphic art inscriptions of Zhao Mengfu, Dong Qichang, and Shen Quan.

Sutra Pillar of the Tang Dynasty
松江唐经(jing)幢(chuang)处在松江中山(shan)中学(xue)校园网络内(nei)，1987年(nian)年(nian)初(chu)被国务院办公厅(ting)发布在为(wei)江苏省重点村历史文物保(bao)证计量(liang)单位。建(jian)(jian)于唐大中十四年(nian)（859年(nian)），是(shi)存世济南最奇(qi)特(෴te)的地面(mian)磁砖房(fan✅g)屋(wu)建(jian)(jian)筑。经(jing)幢(chuang)21级，高9.3米(mi)，八(ba)棱(leng)八(ba)面(mian)，故叫作为(wei)八(ba)棱(leng)碑，被称作“唐经(jing)幢(chuang)”，俗(su)名(ming)“石塔”。
Sutra Pillar of the Tang Dynasty is located at the campus of Zhongshan Primary School, Songjiang. In January 1988, it was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. Established⛦ in 859, the pillar is the oldest ground building in Shanghai. The pillar is built of 21 stone blocks with a height of 9.3 meters. With eight ridges and eight slides, it is also known as th📖e Eight-Ridge Pillar, commonly known as the “Sutra Pillar of the Tang Dynasty”, also known as the “Stone Pillar”.

大仓(cang)(cang)桥(🍎qiao)(qiao)坐落于(yu)永丰街道(dao)办(ban)事处中山(shan)东(dong)路仓(cang)(cang)桥(qiao)(qiao)弄南，201几(ji)年4月被发布文(wen)章(zhang)为(wei)苏州市藏品爱护(hu)的单位(wei)，都是座高(gao)10余米(mi)，柱距50余米(mi)的五孔弧(hu)形大石(shi)桥(qiao)(qiao)。桥(qiao)(qiao)本名(ming)永丰，因桥(qiao)(qiao)南为(wei)松(song)江府漕运仓(cang)(cang)城，故又称(cheng)大仓(cang)(cang)桥(qiao)(qiao)。现(xian)为(wei)苏州地域知(zhi)名(ming)的明清大石(shi)桥(qiao)(qiao)之首(shou)。
Located at Cangqiao Lane South, West Zhongshan Road in Yongfeng Sub-district, Dacang Bridge was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in April 2014. The bridge spans 50 meters long and 10 meters high over the river. It was formerly⛄ known as Yongfeng Bridge and later named Dacang Bridge for there was Water Transport Warehouse City of Songjiang Pref💝ecture to the south of the bridge. It is one of the famous big stone bridges of the Ming Dynasty in Shanghai.

Located at No.75 Gangbeng Alley, Maluqiao Neighborhood Committee in Yueyang Sub-district, Songjiang Mosque was announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in August 1980. As one of the oldest mosques in Shanghai, Songjiang Mosque was built during 1341-1368, also named Zhenjiao Mosque. After many renovations and expansions during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the mosque today features the style of construction of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The main buildings include Central Hal𝄹l, Kiln Hall, Crossing Corridor, North and South Speech Hall, and Bangke Chamber. Among them, the Kiln Hall and Bangke Chamber can best represent the traits of the Mosque.

西林禅寺，全称又被称为崇恩(en)寺，建于南宋咸淳末(mo)年(nian)（1265—1278年(nian)）。明洪武2年(nian)（1382年(nian)）修建，靠近岳阳(yang)居委中山间(jian)路6610号。明正统皇敕封时赐(ci)名(ming)“大明朝西林禅寺”。宫殿侧门下有(y🐲ou)塔(ta)(ta)，名(ming)圆(yuan)(yuan)应(ying)(ying)宝(bao)塔(ta)(ta)，别称“西林塔(ta)(ta)”。圆(yuan)(yuan)应(ying)(ying)塔(ta)(ta)（西林塔(ta)(ta)）1982年(nian)3月被发布为广州市藏(zang)品保🥃(bao)护性公司的。塔(ta)(ta)身七层八(ba)面，砖木结(jie)构设(she)计，塔(ta)(ta)高(gao)46.5米，至今仍为广州东南部(bu)很(hen)高(gao)的这座古塔(ta)(ta)。
Located at No.666 Middle Zhongshan Road in Yueyang Sub-district, Xilin Temple, also known as Chong’en Temple, was originally built during 1265-1274 and reconstructed in 1387. In Ming Dynasty, an emperor named it as Xilin Temple of Ming. Behind the main hall, there stands a 46.5-metꦺer-high, 7-storey octagonal pagoda of brick and wood structure, which is called Yuanying Pagoda, also well-known as Xilin Pagoda. Announced as Shanghai municipal cultural relics protection unit in September 1982, this pagoda is the tallest ancient pagoda in Shanghai.
